Five suspects arrested in connection with Burgersfort bus bombing

Police say investigations will continue and more arrests cannot be ruled out.

LIMPOPO –  Limpopo police have arrested five suspects suspects, between the ages of 21 and 30-years-old, following the bombing of a bus in which six mine workers were killed on Monday evening, 2 April.

According to police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the high level investigation team that was establish to track down the suspects, spent two sleepless nights locating them and nabbed the five at different locations.

“The five suspects will appear in the Mecklenburg Magistrates Court on Thursday, 5 April, on charges of six counts of Murder, malicious damage to property and attempted murder,” he explained.

Ngoepe added that the process of identifying the six deceased has already commenced and an appropriate announcement will be made in due course.

Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has commended members of the investigative team for the “sterling detective work” and the speed in which they managed to crack this case.
