According to the Department of Transport, 15 people were flung from the bakkie

LIMPOPO – According to spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala, the accident occurred on Thursday afternoon, on the R518 near Mabula Lodge in Lephalale.

Police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says police in Lephalale are investigating a case of Culpable Homicide after three females and two men lost their lives when the Toyota bakkie they were traveling in, capsized and rolled several times.

“Around 26 people were loaded in an open bakkie when the driver lost control. It is understood they were going for a church service at Marapong outside Lephalale,” he said.

Five people were killed and four others critically injured, while 13 people sustained major injuries and three others, minor injuries.

The patients were taken to the Lephalale Hospital for medical treatment.
