uFiling allows you to do UIF activities online, with ease
uFiling is a free online service that allows employers to safely and securely submit their UIF declarations and pay their monthly contributions.

POLOKWANE – Employers can now easily control Unemployement Insurance Fund (UIF) activities of clients by making use of uFiling.
It allows employers of domestic workers, commercial employers (SMME) and tax agents to complete and submit monthly UIF declarations and securely pay UIF contributions.
Salary details can also be updated using uFiling. It enables a streamlined UIF declaration returns process and automatically calculates the UIF contributions associated with your monthly return.
Since the internet is flexible, employers have full-time access to UIF declaration information from anywhere in the world, provided you have an internet connection.
uFiling will send you regular updates and automated e-mail notifications assisting you to stay up to date with all the UIF legislative requirements.
uFiling accurately calculates the UIF contributions per employee based on the salary information captured within the allowable thresholds.
There is an online payment facility which enables employers to pay their contributions securely. You can use either debit order or credit Push payment to the four major South African banking institutions. This requires you to have an internet banking facility to allow authorisation of the UIF contributions from uFiling.
With uFiling you’ll never have to worry about the confidentiality of your employee information and UIF returns. Security controls are employed on multiple levels to ensure your data remains secure at all times:
• Username and password protected entry to the system.
• Only authorised users are allowed to perform specific tasks.
• All data changes are tracked in an audit trail, which makes it easy to identify who made changes by date, time and type of change.
• World-class encryption techniques are employed to protect your data when it is in transit between the uFiling server and your computer.
• Digital certificates – the identities of all parties involved in a transaction are verified by means of VeriSign™ digital certificates.
• Validation – ensures transmitted data is not compromised (accidentally or intentionally).
• E-mail notifications – notifies you of declarations issued, and contribution status of your transactions.
• Physical network security – the uFiling website is hosted within a sophisticated firewall configuration and is protected by VeriSign’s Secure Site Services

Information needed:
• Valid UIF registration number.
• Your valid 13 digit barcoded RSA identity number or passport number.
• A valid e-mail address.
• Your banking account details from which you will pay your UIF contributions.
• Your company’s official registration name and details as provided by the Registrar of Companies which is the CK1 form for CC’s and CM1 or CM3 for Proprietary Limited companies.
uFiling submissions are embedded with an electronic signature. A submitted return on uFiling is legally equivalent to a signed physical return. You therefore do not need to have a signature on an electronic return submitted via uFiling.
uFiling keeps a minimum of five years history of both returns and payments. These only apply to those returns and payments made via uFiling. So if you’re a new user, your previous history will not reflect on uFiling.
To prevent unauthorised access to any data, all transmissions received and transmitted by this service are encrypted and your bank provides the encryption for electronic payments processed by them.
Review spoke to Lerato Makomene, Spokesperson for the Department of Labour about uFiling. “It definitely makes life easier for our clients as they are able to check on the status of their employees and they do not have to wait in long queues. It is also easier for them as they do not have to travel to our offices,” Makomene said.
