Mitchell House open day well attended

A tour of the facilities and testimony by current college students during the College open day at Mitchell House served to convince prospective parents last Wednesday that the institution is not only a centre of excellence, but also provides value for money.
Before the formal proceedings started, visitors enjoyed refreshments and had an opportunity for engagement with staff and prefects.
Headmaster Andrew Cook welcomed prospective parents and learners to the event and said that children are successful because their parents have certain attributes that contribute to the building of their personalities. “Good schools attract good children that comes from homes of good parents. Your peers in life pulls you up or drags you down,” Cook said and assured the future learners and their parents that Mitchell House College has academic excellence and that it is a place where learners’ personalities are shaped to prepare them to become meaningful and respected members of their communities and work places.
Director of Sports, Fred Romijn, informed the guests of the college’s sports programmes and facilities. Director of Studies, Claude Goeminne thereafter introduced the guests to the academic programmes and curriculums offered by the college and reminded interested future learners that applications for admission for 2019 closes tomorrow (Friday). “This will be followed by a screening process before successful applicants are finally admitted,” Goeminne explained.
Current learners of the college, Margret Libetwa and Neo Moropa, both in Grade 10, were given time to share their experiences with the guests. Margret assured them that the boarding facilities at the college are indeed a home from home and advised that being a boarder provides ample opportunity for participation in all the activities offered.
Director of Marketing, Achsah Phoshoko, shared information regarding the admission processes for learners joining in 2019 and provided the necessary documents and information leaflets.
In conclusion, guests were taken on a guided tour of the school’s facilities which included classrooms and the recently completed nutritional centre.
