Significant drop in temperature expected for Polokwane from tomorrow

Temperatures are expected to drop to 16 degrees on Tuesday

POLOKWANE – The South African Weather Service says it is monitoring the development of a cut-off low pressure system which is set to affect the country from tomorrow, 14 May.

Widespread showers and thundershowers are expected from Monday until Wednesday in Limpopo as well as other provinces including Gauteng, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal.

The weather service says there is potential for some areas to receive significant amounts of rainfall from this weather system, and this may result in localized flooding in places.

The weather service says the risk for heavy rain remains on Tuesday for Limpopo with 10 mm expected.

Due to the expected extent of cloudiness, temperatures are also expected to drop significantly from the current mild conditions being experienced over much of the country. It will be cold from late Monday over most of the eastern interior of the country until Thursday

Temperatures in Polokwane are expected to drop to 16 degrees on Tuesday and 17 degrees on Wednesday.

The South African Weather Service says it will continue to monitor any further developments relating to this weather system and will issue subsequent updates as required.
