Naptosa rewards long serving educators

The National Professional Teacher’s Organisation of South Africa (Naptosa) presented 18 educators from various schools in the province with long service awards in recognition of their dedication, service and commitment to the profession for the past 25 and 35 years respectively.
The ceremony was held at Pietersburg English Medium Primary School (Pemps) last Friday.
Provincial Secretary of Naptosa Joe Mashigo described the educators as pillars of strength in the profession. “People are educated because of them. They never gave up on the profession irrespective of its challenges. They have done a lot for the profession and we saw it fitting to reward them,” Mashigo said.
Maria Magagane an educator at Pietersburg Comprehensive School who started teaching in the there in 1997 described the award as a token of encouragement. “It means a lot to me to be rewarded for doing what I love. Teaching is my passion and I love it. The award will spur me on and propel me to continue building the nation and imparting knowledge to learners,” Magagane said.
Recipients:
20 years of service: Dikotla Tengtedi of Bana Ba Thari Special School, Mokgadi Mohale (Pax College 25 years: Thinawanga Makhubele (Ripambeta High School), Annah Mamabolo (Malatswa High School), Tshepiso Mamaila (Bana Ba Thari Special School), Wilson Mukhavhuli (Thohoyandou Technical School), Titus Nekhumbe, (Tshilidzini Special School), Ratshalingwa Matodzi (Mutende High School) and Shibambu Khazamula (Thohoyandou Technical School)
30 years: Alpheus Mukhese (Thase Secondary School), Eliza Mulovhedzi (Tshilidzini Special School), Mavis Nelukalo (Tshilidzini Special School), Gloy Setoaba (Helene Franz Special School) and Slabie Thema (Pemps)
35 years: Mashudu Manyaga (Vhuronga Circuit Office) and Phophi Mathivhulula (Thohoyandou Technichal School).
