Prospective parents of Junior Phase learners to be enrolled at Mitchell House for 2019 were taken on a tour of the school’s facilities as part of an open day last Thursday.
Parents were particularly interested in the recently opened nutrition centre where refreshments were served after headmaster, Andrew Cook informed them about the school’s vision to promote diversity and non-discrimination. “We are committed to produce leaders for the next generation,” Cook said and added that one of the school’s advantages was that classes are small, not exceeding 25 pupils. “We also use the Singapore Maths Model that focuses on problem solving,” Cook said.
Grade 0 learners also entertained the parents with a short presentation featuring traditional Nigerian attire. Grade 0 class teacher Jidzo Ndebele said that the learners learnt about the 2018 Fifa World Soccer Tournament and about the countries taking part. “We decided to showcase Nigeria and it was great fun for the learners to dress appropriately and draw their own visas reflecting the countries taking part,” Ndebele said.
