Police warn couples not to use secluded spots for romantic trysts
This warning comes after a woman was raped and a man kidnapped during two separate attacks in the Tzaneen area recently
LIMPOPO – Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe reports: “In the first incident a 29 year-old pastor and his 24-year-old girlfriend were parked at a local soccer field near Rhobeni village in the Letsitele Policing area when they were attacked by two suspects armed with a firearm and an axe.
“During the incident the couple were robbed of their cellphones and suspects took turns in raping the female victim. It is alleged the suspects then kidnapped the woman and drove off in the pastor’s vehicle. She was however later dumped at a bridge between Rhikhotso and Xihoko villag and was rescued by the police. She was taken to hospital for medical treatment,” added Ngoepe.
“The pastors green two door sedan Corsa Lite with registration numbers BNN 066 L is still missing and according to police investigations may be in the Nwamitwa village area.”
The police appealed to anyone with information that can assist in tracing the suspects or have seen the vehicle to contact Detective Sergeant Hlungwani at 073 594 1838.
“In the second incident a 33-year-old man and his girlfriend were attacked near Turkey village in the Sekororo area last night at around 21:00.
“It is alleged they were accosted by two armed men wearing balaclavas who entered their vehicle and forced them to drive off. Along the way the girlfriend managed to escape but the perpetrators disappeared with the man,” said Ngoepe
The man and his silver grey Opel Corsa with registration number BRT 128 L are still missing and the police appeal to anyone with information about these suspects and the whereabouts of this car to contact Colonel Cecil Machimana at 082 451 718.
The Police investigations on both incidents are still continuing, concluded Ngoepe.
