Saving South Africa’s Children with R5 a day
Save the Children fights for the right of children to have a future.
POLOKWANE – Feeding your children with only R150 a month seems impossible, and frankly, it is.
With R150, you can buy a loaf of brown bread, 2l of fresh milk, 18 large eggs, 1 kg sugar, and three cans of non perishable food.
But Save the Children say their organisation can manage to help a child with only a R5 a day donation, which equates to R150 a month. On Saturday, 30 June, a team from Save the Children South Africa visited Mall of the North to educate people about what their R5 a day can do to help save a child.

According to the Save a Child’s webpage, every child deserves to have a good start in life and the best conditions for a successful future. But as we all know, many children in South Africa don’t have the same opportunities to develop and reach their full potential.
“By supporting a quality education, an improvement in health and nutrition, you will also facilitate the promotion and protection of your rights, spaces free of violence and gender equity in your school, your home and your community,” explains Angelina Change, one of the volunteers.
