According to the spokesperson for the Westenburg police, Sgt Mpandeny Nkuna, the bakkie was traveling towards town from Matlala and the taxi was traveling in the opposite direction when one of the drivers lost control of their vehicle, causing it to collide head on.
The driver of the Nissan bakkie and one passenger from the taxi died and injured passengers were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Nkuna says no arrests have been made as yet and a case of culpable homicide has been opened.
