Mall of the North (MoN) management together with Fun Company and Panarottis recently welcomed some 35 children from Adonai Crisis Centre for Women and Children in Westenburg for a morning of trampoline jumping that ended with scrumptious pizzas and sodas for everyone.
Angela Salter, manager of the crisis centre, said many kids in Westenburg are needy and often the food they receive daily at the crisis centre is the only meal they have in the day. “We also help them and their families with food and other basic necessities. It’s tough because we do it without Government’s help, depending on donations from churches, businesses and individuals,” Salter explained. She added that the crisis centre also doubles as a temporary safe house for women in need.
Salter expressed her immense gratitude towards MoN marketing manager Mari Delport as well as to Fun Company and Panarottis for giving the children and experience to remember. “For most of these children, this is the first time they have ever eaten pizza and the trampoline jumping had them literally jumping for joy!” Salter said.
Delport said MoN was happy to give back to the community they serve in whatever way possible. “We take our corporate social responsibility very seriously as do our tenants. Thank you to Fun Company and Panarottis for coming on board,” she said.
The crisis centre needs as much assistance as possible when it comes to food and clothing, and there is a huge need for tables, chairs and a gas stove. “The gas stove we are currently using is only being lent to us for a while,” Salter concluded.
