According to the Polokwane Municipality, a 50-year-old man was was caught driving towards oncoming traffic in Landdros Mare Street towards Grobler Street, when he was apprehended by traffic officers on duty.
“Traffic Officers Ammon Mhaule, Kgabo Masemola and Raymond Setagane arrested the driver on the spot without hesitation,” a statement read.
After being stopped, the man tried to solicit a R200 bribe from the officers, when charging him with a fine.
The driver was charged with reckless and negligent driving as well as soliciting a bribe.
The Municipality has urged motorists to obey rules of the road at all times and that bribes from drivers will not be tolerated.
