Post Office strike ends after unions reach salary increase agreement
The strike, which began on 3 July, was in its second week when an agreement was reached.
POLOKWANE – According to the Citizen, the South African Post Office strike has ended after trade unions reached an agreement regarding salary increases, yesterday, 18 July.

Post Office employees across the board will receive a 6.5% salary increase which will be backdated to 1 April. In addition, contracted working hours for permanent part-time employees have been adjusted from 21.5 hours per week to 27.5 hours per week.
Five hundred of these positions are earmarked to be phased in as permanent full-time employees in due course, following an appropriate process.
Accumulated mail is expected to take roughly 20 work days to be processed.
