The Department of Health has established 42 teams which will be dispatched across the province and attend to at least 1 million households from this month until February 2019 with the aim of fighting malaria in the province
Information released by the department prior to the launch of the annual spraying campaign that was held in Folvhodwe village, Vhembe District on Tuesday highlighted that the province experiences a large number of malaria cases during the rainy season, especially in Mopani and Vhembe districts.
The launch of the campaign was led by Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba who stated in a voice clip that communities should cooperate with the appointed teams when they approach households for spraying.
She said malaria is preventable and urged residents to guard against the symptoms and visit nearby health facilities for checkups and medical treatments. At the time of going to print departmental spokesperson Neil Shikwambana could not provide estimated figures of cases recorded this year.
