POLOKWANE – Gr 7 learner and a musician from PEPPS, Peter Alex Karanje Kagori (12), recently took part in the final round of the Kids With Talent SA (KWT) competition on 29 September in Midrand, Gauteng and got a third place in the 13 – 14 year old guitar category.
Kids With Talent’s aim/mission is to provide a performance platform for every child in South Africa, and to give every child the chance to feel like a rock star through their platform. Their goal is for their competitions to be a tool in every parent and music teacher’s toolkit to motivate, inspire and encourage children.
“We believe that this platform will also help to identify and nurture South African music talent, and to grow and strengthen the local music industry and hope to provide new opportunities for the children we work with, whether it’s the chance to perform for the first time, or a lifelong career in music.”
“Peter has been playing for about four years and only recently started attending guitar lessons after school where his music teacher noticed his talent and encouraged him to enter KWT,” his mother Josephine told Review.
“He’s well behaved and multi-talented musically and academically and the fact that he does not let his music interfere with any of his school work, makes us very proud. This competition featured children from all provinces and he made his province and city proud by competing against constants with way more experience,” she added.
Peter will soon be representing his country but these dates have yet top be announced, she concluded.
