A large number of athletes from schools in the province tested their strength and pace during a pre-season athletics event hosted by Prisma Jewaskiewitz Athletics Club at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
Organiser Deon Jewaskiewitz said the event was aimed at preparing and getting athletes ready for the new athletics season which commences in January. “It was a good event. We had athletes from as far as Gauteng who participated. This was aimed at helping them to get fit for the new season and from what we saw on Saturday I think they are ready for it,” he said.
Among the local athletes were learners from Hoërskool Pietersburg (PHS), Eagles Nest Christian School, Hoër Tegniese Skool Tom Naudé and Pepps. At the time of going to print the individual electronic results were not available for publication.
