Noorderland High School celebrated their academic, sport and culture achievers during two separate ceremonies, the first being for grades 8 to 11 academic achievers last Monday morning and the second being for Grade 12 academic achievers as well as the school’s sport and culture achievers, which took place last Wednesday evening.
Academics
Grade 12 learner Maphalle Matlala was announced as the Dux Award winner as well as being the top Grade 12 learner, with an average of 86,7% this year. Lutricia le Roux received two special awards, Most Deserving Learner Award and Outstanding Leadership Award as well as being placed third in the Grade 12 Top 10 with an 85,4% average. In second place in the Top 10 with an average of 86% was Kagiso Koenaite. Fanisa Baloyi was named most disciplined learner and also received a special award. Special awards for rendering service went to Lesego Modiba and Martin Mojapelo.
Also making it to the Top 10 in Grade 12 were Katlego Dikgale, Kholofelo Mokami, Molebogeng Mangaba, Nakedi Phalafala, Mushathama Tshishonga, Zethu Segage and Nsuku Raphela. The top Grade 12 learner in each subject was also awarded.
The top learners from Grade 8 – 11 were Leruo Sharp, 94,2%, Sphiwe Kokela, 93,4%, Lehlogonolo Rasehlo, 91,9% and Tshegofatso Kubayi, 92,3% respectively.
Sport
The Junior Victrix Ludorum Award went to Letago Makwela while the Junior Victor Ludorum Award went to Phaswa Sethosa. The Senior Victrix Ludorum was shared between Fanisa Baloyi and Karabo Mongwai and Lefa Maphopha received the Sernior Victor Ludorum.
A special award for the top Junior Sports Girl was handed to Modiroadi Phiri while her male counterpart emerged as Tshoanetsi Munyai. The top senior sports girl and boy were Karabo Mongwai and Lionel Manamela respectively.
Culture
Dorah Makalela and Dichoshi Ramotlou were awarded as best junior and senior speaker respectively with Dichoshi being named top Junior Culture Learner. The best junior chess player was Retang Makhura and the best senior chess player was Andile Bobe who received the special award as senior culture learner.
