LIMPOPO – Two suspects alleged to have accosted security guards after loading cash into an ATM machine in the Nkambako village, outside Tzaneen, have been arrested.
The two suspects and a third accomplice allegedly confronted three security guards on 19 October 2018 after loading the money, says Provincial Hawks spokesperson, Captain Matimba Maluleke.
“The suspects managed to take one rifle belonging to the guards, before fleeing the scene on foot, abandoning their getaway vehicle in the process. The said vehicle was reported stolen in Namakgale earlier this year. A swift investigation by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit with the assistance of the Tzaneen Tracing Team, resulted in the arrest of two suspects over the past weekend,” he expalined.
The duo appeared in the Ritavi Magistrates Court yesterday, 29 October and are facing charges of attempted cash in transit robbery. They were both remanded in custody until today, 30 October, awaiting their legal representatives.
Maluleke says the search for outstanding suspect(s) continues.
