
LIMPOPO- According to Police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, the elderly victim was allegedly alone at home during the attack and her daughter made the gruesome discovery at around 07:30 that morning during a routine visit to her mother’s house.
“ he deceased’s daughter alleges that she and her 16-year-old son arrived at the house to find the doors still locked. Together they devised means to gain entry and were then met by the gruesome sight of her mother lying on her bed with ‘terrible’ injuries to her upper body.”
The daughter notified the police and emergency services and on their arrival the old woman was certified dead. The deceased has been identified as 71-year-old Mokgaetji Francina Hika.
The Police have since launched a massive manhunt for the suspect(s) and urge anyone with information that can lead to the apprehension of the murderer(s) to contact Constable Sidney Hlaku on 072 8418 704 or the nearest police station.
Police management has condemned the continuous act of victimising women and the vulnerable elderly urging public to look after the elderly and refrain from neglecting them.
Police investigations are still ongoing, he concluded.
