[UPDATE] Police investigation after fatal shooting at Polokwane shopping centre

A suspect was fatally shot after attempting to rob a 58-year-old man this morning, 19 November

POLOKWANE – Police in Polokwane are investigating the fatal shooting which occurred this morning in which a suspect was shot and killed by a 58-year-old man who was depositing money at an ATM.

According to police spokepserson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, while walking towards the ATM, the man saw the suspect running away from the motor vehicle with his bag, towards a getaway vehicle with four occupants inside and he gave chase on foot.

“In the process, he ordered the suspect to stop but he continued running until he fired shots towards the alleged suspect, who instantly died. Police were notified, reacted swiftly and an unknown man in his thirties was found laying on the ground with gun shot wounds. He was certified dead at the scene,” Ngoepe explained.

The stolen bag was recovered with some contents including cellphones and cash inside.

“Cases of theft out of motor vehicle and inquest were opened for further police investigations and police have since launched a manhunt for the remaining four unknown suspects driving in a Siver Toyota Corolla with unknown registration numbers.”
