High calibre rifle brandishing man arrested in Groblersdal
The man was spotted walking in the streets dangling the rifle on his shoulder
LIMPOPO – A middle aged man dangling a high calibre rifle on his shoulders and in possession of a knife in Groblersdal town was arrested on Tuesday, 12 November 2018.
According to police officers of a local security company spotted the man with the rifle on Tautes Street and alerted police.
Warrant Officer Stan Magaela, Groblersdal Police Spokesperson, said upon the man’s arrest, police seized three rounds of ammunition found in his possession.
Magaela said the rifle which was in the possession of the alleged illegal immigrant was that mostly used in hunting of big game such as rhinos and elephants.
The uncooperative suspect is expected to appear before the Groblersdal Magistrates Court soon on charges of possession an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of a dangerous weapon.
Police investigations are ongoing.
