Every so often we hear about a rhino being poached for it's horn. According to www.savetherhino.org 83 rhinos were poached in 2008 and in 2017 the number is a staggering 1 028. Review asked readers if they feel enough is being done to address the problem and what more can be done.
Charlene Geswind: I think enough is being done. i see a lot of companies that invest in the initiative and there are dog training going on. I also know of some other big names in the corporate world that are involved in the project.
Florah Raganya: I think enough is being done. There are a lot of companies that give out information on the problem and tell people that it is wrong.
Rassie Janse van Rensburg: I don’t think they do enough, but I don’t think enough can be done. It will always be a problem. Even though a lot are being done, I think government can do more about the problem.
Chantel van Deventer: I think enough is being done. The Anti poaching unit is very active, but the poachers just get more clever every day. They should legalise the selling of rhino horn.
Jessica von Well: I think they should legalise the selling of rhino horns then poaching might be less. Rhino owners can harvest the horns and sell it legally and the horns can regrow.
Regita Lawrence: No, there are to few awareness campaigns. The only time we hear about this is when a rhino dies.
