R18 000 worth of spot fines issued during festive Season Police operation outside Polokwane
The provincial operation composed of different law enforcement agencies is part of ongoing Festive Season operations taking place throughout the province.
POLOKWANE – The operation in the form of a road block was conducted along the N1 outside of Polokwane from 05:00 this morning (Thursday).
“During the operation 44 undocumented foreign nationals were arrested and R18 000 worth of spot fines were issued for various traffic violations to 18 motorists,” said Police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.
The Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, who took part in the operation, commended the members for their continued commitment and determination in ensuring that the roads are safe. He further reiterated that this kind of operation and related activities will henceforth be the daily occurrence.
In addition to personally conducting the searches at the roadblock, the Provincial Commissioner also distributed pamphlets about crime prevention to the passing motorists.
The arrested suspects will be processed accordingly, Mojapelo concluded.
