POLOKWANE – The six suspects who were arrested for allegedly vandalizing Vodacom stores at Mall of the North on Sunday, 2 December appeared in the Polokwane Magistrates Court on Thursday, 6 December on charges of malicious damage to property.
Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe says their cases have been postponed to 22 February 2019 for further police investigations and that they were all released on warning.
On Thursday, Vodacom Spokesperson Byron Kennedy said they welcomed the arrest of the suspects and says they will continue to work with law enforcement regarding investigations.
Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, General Nneke Ledwaba has issued a stern warning against any acts of vigilantism and says the law will take its course, regardless of the suspects’ standing in society.
‘The identity of the suspects, whose ages range between 25 and 45-years-old, will for now be withheld pending police investigations that are unfolding. More arrests are expected,” Ngoepe concluded.
