Gr 6 learner, Chantel Kadzere from Good Hope Primary in Westenburg and her teacher James Disolwane during the schools annual prize giving ceremony.

James Disolwane, her teacher, said he was amazed by her ability to multiply huge numbers without using a calculator as her peers were still struggling to multiply without using a calculator.

“It usually takes learners longer to multiply large numbers without a calculator, but Chantel does it so fast using the vertical column method method that I taught them in class, and for this we have awarded her as the best performing learner in maths for 2018,” he said.

Chantel wants to become a pilot oen day, as she said she wants to afford herself and her family the opportunity to travel and experience other parts of the world.

“I love mathematics and physical sciences. They require a lot of practice and focus in order for one to get to the correct answer and never giving up, as you will not get it right the first time around. I practice and study a lot at home so that I can achieve better marks in class,” she explained.
