Help this PEPPS learner compete in the Miss Junior Face of Beauty contest in Dubai

Gr 9 learner from PEPPS, Refilwe Malatji, took to the pageant stage the first time when she was in Gr 1, and after the flame withered for a few years after that, it was sparked again in 2013 when she saw an advertisement for a pageant.

POLOKWANE – “I showed it (the advertisement) to my mother and that was the beginning of my active participation in pageants,” she explained.

Refilwe won her first pageant in 2015 and said it required a lot of practice and preparation with her modelling coach, Jacqueline Ferns of Ace Models Limpopo. Apart from modelling she also enjoys baking, playing hockey and netball.

Being crowned Miss Junior Face of Beauty 2018 not only brought happiness and a sense of purpose for this beauty queen, as she is now faced with the challenge of raising money to make her way to Dubai. She needs approximately R50 000 to cover the seven-day journey, which includes her flights, meals, her outfits, and accommodation for her and her mother who will be her guardian as she is still a minor.

Businessman, Kholofelo Pholafudi has taken Refilwe under his wing and is helping her to raise the money to realise her dreams.

“I found that lots of kids in the black culture don’t get to explore their full potential. I am using my influence in business to help her raise the money that are needed,” he explained.

Kholofelo appeals to readers to assist her where possible. “I am a hard worker and a perfectionist. I want everything to be perfect and I promise to represent the country as best as I can. South Africa is full of talented children who have a lot to bring to the table but those things don’t get to be seen by the rest of the world,” she concluded.
