Laerskool Piet Hugo’s u.11 soccer team caused an upset last Thursday when they beat their Mitchell House counterparts 4-1 in the opening match of the Limpopo Primary Schools Soccer League.
Mitchell House won the league last season but could not match the pace and the precision of the Piet Hugo players.
The winning goals were scored by Malik Mathwa, Katlego Motlou, Gary Mukondi and Thabang Pheaha in the first and the second half of the match.
Educator and the team’s head coach, Kevin Smith said the victory was a morale booster for the team. “It was a good way of starting the league. The boys played well and we are looking forward to the rest of the season.”
