A squad of 110 athletes from all districts was selected by the Limpopo Athletics panel after the Limpopo School Athletics Championships held in Polokwane on Friday.
The team is made up of the best performers in their age groups and across all codes. The criteria used by the panel included time, distance and height achieved in the individual items. The national Primary School Championships is set to take place in Germiston from 14 to 16 March.
Chairperson of the Limpopo Schools Athletics Association, Peter Maluleke believes they have selected a team that will make the province proud at the national event. “We want to do better than last year.
We came back with one gold, three silver and four bronze medals. This year we are aiming at 20 medals and I think with the team that we have selected we can achieve that goal,” Maluleke said.
