With the upcoming Capricorn Schools Netball League season about to commence, PEPPS Preparatory School and College hosted a netball clinic guided by the theme ‘Purpose, passion and productivity’ from Tuesday until today (Thursday).
The session was aimed at developing players’ skills and learners aged nine to 13 could participate. Educator Chantell Kidd said it was the fourth year that the school hosted the clinic. It was conducted by sport scientist and sport psychology consultant, Angie Ras assisted by a group of experienced netball players.
Kidd said the clinic would hopefully assist in sending more of their players to the Pietersburg circuit netball trials this year. Kidd also outlined that they would host a mini netball clinic for players aged seven and eight when the school reopens.
Ras, who played professional netball and has ten years of experience in netball coaching, indicated that the session was to teach players agility, ball skills for both attack and defence roles, team building and mental training. She said she was impressed with the performance of the players. She added that there was a lot of potential among players and they are likely to make great professional netball players in the future.
