POLOKWANE – Even though the first day of April is usually a day of joking, fun and laughter. The bloodstock levels at the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) are no laughing matter.

One unit of blood lasts only 42 days after donation, therefore donors are encouraged to donate regularly (every eight weeks or 56 days).

One unit of blood can save a minimum of three lives as it is separated into platelets, red blood cells and plasma. Do your part and donate blood this April.
