
LIMPOPO – The suspects, aged between 30 and 46, were arrested in the early of this morning, along the N1 South near the Kranskop Tollgate, said Police spokesperson Col Moatshe Ngoepe in a statement.
The operation was composed of Modimolle Cluster TRIO Crime Task Team, the Crime Intelligence Unit, the National Intervention Unit from Pretoria and the Heritage Protection Group.
“During the arrest three firearms and 31 rounds of ammunition were seized, including the motor vehicle they were travelling in,” Ngoepe said.

Ngoepe further confirmed in the statement that these suspects have since been linked to eleven cases of armed robbery and one murder, which they allegedly committed along the N1 road in the Bela-Bela and Modimolle Policing areas.
“The origin of the recovered motor vehicle, firearms and ammunition is still being determined by the ongoing Police investigations.”

The suspects will appear before the Bela-Bela and Modimolle Magistrate Courts soon on several charges including possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and racketeering under the prevention of Organised Crime Act.
The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has welcomed this milestone achievement and has commended the Saps members who participated during this operation for the excellent service rendered in eradicating all criminal activities along the N1 road.
