October petrol price hikes could push petrol above R29

LIMPOPO – South African motorists are staring down the barrel of record-high fuel prices in October, with mid-month data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) pointing to steep increases driven by rising global oil costs and a weaker rand.
If the current under-recovery trends continue, petrol 95 could breach R29 per litre inland for the first time in history.

Based on mid-September CEF data, motorists face the following projected increases:
