The Department of Public Administration at the University of Limpopo (UL) will host the 4th annual International Conference on Public Administration and Development Alternatives (Ipada) in Gauteng from 2 to 5 July.
The department is based in the School of Economics and Management under the Faculty of Management and Law.
The conference will be hosted under the theme ‘Democracy, Elections and Administration in Africa’ and one of its core objectives would be to empower and embrace emerging researchers, development experts, public administration practitioners, politicians, local government officials and postgraduate students from different institutions. Scholarly dialogues that contribute to knowledge production in Africa will be explored.
UL acting spokesperson, Johannes Selepe said they were expecting around 250 delegates who will present research papers on various topics at the event. He indicated that the delegates will represent universities from Nigeria, Uganda, Botswana, Kenya, Thailand and Latin America. All South African universities will be represented. “The main intent and purpose of the conference is to bring together African scholars from across the continent to engage and find solutions for African political, economic and social problems. It is not just a networking conference of African scholars, but also one with its primary aim deeply rooted in the need to publish high-quality research output generated by such scholars,” Selepe informed.
