POLOKWANE – Motorists in the city are urged to use alternative routes and exercise patience as certain roads in the CBD will temporarily close on Thursday, 18 July.
This is due to to the memorial service of late ANC struggle veteran, Ike Maphoto.
The memorial service will be held at Jack Botes Hall and the following affected streets will be closed between 08h00 and 16h00 on Thursday, 18 July 2019:
• Church between Thabo Mbeki and Rabe;
• Bodenstein between Landros Mare and Paul Kruger;
• Paul Kruger between Rabe and Thabo Mbeki; and
• Rabe between Market and Paul Kruger.
In a statement, Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala, added that Jack Botes Hall’s parking will also be closed from this evening, 17 July and that updates in terms of streets closures for Sunday’s funeral service will be provided.
“The municipality is urging all motorists to adhere to instructions given by the law enforcement officers,” his statement concluded.
