Regaugetswe Drop-in-Centre gets a hearty donation from Old Mutual
Centre Manager, Maria Ngwena, was thankful for the donation and said it will make a huge difference.
POLOKWANE – Regaugetswe Drop-in-Centre in extension 44 outside Polokwane was delighted to receive a considerable donation of R30 000 from Old Mutual on Friday.
According to Old Mutual’s Provincial Manager, Klaas Mabetlela, this was their way of giving back to the community.

“Our company’s values are based on people. We are a company that deals with insurance and investments but at the end of the day, those products are sold to the community. We have been doing this for almost 174 years. Regaugetswe Drop-in-Centre was identified by one of our employees, Barell Mamabolo, after she saw that the drop-in-centre is in need of money. We are proud to have put a smile on the kids’ faces. We are not only part of the community as Old Mutual but we are also a community.
“We believe that giving back makes a significant change in someone’s life, as we know that it takes a village to raise a child. This is part of our company’s mission of giving something back to the community. We hope other companies will learn that it is important to reward members of the community because they are the ones who made us what we are today,” said Mabitlela.
He said the community’s children are the leaders of tomorrow and they must be well nurtured. “These are the mayors, councillors and doctors of tomorrow. We want to make Regaugetswe Drop-in-Centre a centre of development and as Old Mutual, we decided to do something for the people community who support us. It is about caring for the community we serve,” he explained.
Centre Manager, Maria Ngwena, was thankful for the donation and said it will make a huge difference. “Our aim is to take a child to school and to develop young people around extension 44. We realised that most of the kids are part of child-headed families while some are orphans. The time for pointing fingers among ourselves is over, we must join hands to create a better life for our children by encouraging our kids to take education seriously,” said Ngwena.
