UPDATE: Man (23) sentenced after using false documentation to buy vehicle at Polokwane dealership
Gugulethu Tony Ngoma (23) was convicted for fraud and sentenced on Wednesday, 28 August.
POLOKWANE – Ngoma was arrested for fraud in July after he purchased a vehicle worth R300 000, from a Polokwane dealership, using what was suspected to be fraudulent documentation.
The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit’s investigation ultimately proved he had utilised a fraudulent pay slip and bank statement to purchase the vehicle and he was traced and arrested at Kwaggafontein Court in Mpumalanga, where he was appearing for another case.
The fraudulently obtained motor vehicle, was recovered.
Hawks Spokesperson, Capt Matimba Maluleke said Ngoma was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment of which two years was wholly suspended for five years, on condition that he is not found guilty of fraud and theft during a period of the suspension.
