From unemployed to national author

From being unemployed and holding a placard on a street corner to selling 1 000 copies of his book, Meshack Bevhula has come a long way.

LIMPOPO – The 28-year-old from Mtititi Lombard village in Malamulele has turned his life around from pleading for help to getting his booked published to receiving a national bestseller badge. According to him the book, Drowning in own tears, is a book about socioeconomic issues prevalent in black communities. “Drowning in own tears is filled with romance, betrayal, secrets and motivation,” said Bevhula.

Bevhula is currently working as a data processor at SA National Road Agency Limited (SANRAL) and indicates that there was a time when he wanted to give up because things were not coming through for him. However, he continued to look for a publisher. “When I was writing this book, I had a vision and dream that my book will sell. To see people buying it and giving nice reviews, is really a dream coming true,” added Bevhula. Bevhula’s book is also being sold in the UK, USA and Nigeria.

Collins Chabane Local Municipality’s Mayor, Moses Maluleke applauded him and encouraged other young people to follow his example.

“As the municipality, we are proud of what Meshack Bevhula has done and we urge other young people to emulate him. He has put our municipality on the map,” he said.
