The suspects were arrested on 12 September and appeared in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court the following day on charges of house robbery and rape. They remain in custody and the case was postponed to this Friday, 20 September.

The suspects went to the victims’ house and forced their entry using dangerous objects. They then demanded money from the victim and his wife. When they realised there was no money in the house they robbed the victim of his cellphone, a DVD player and a pair of tekkies.

The complainant told the police that after taking those items in the house they raped his wife. The victim tried to fight the suspects off but unfortunately he was overpowered, assaulted and collapsed onto the floor. His assailants then allegedly proceeded to gang-rape the woman.

An investigative team at the Seshego Police Station was put on the case and were able to catch the perpetrators in record time. A manhunt is still currently underway for the fifth suspect, says Seshego SAPS Communications Officer, Ernest Maluleke.

The Seshego Station Commander, Brigadier Lucas Tlhako condemned these acts of crime and has vouched to ensure that the law takes its course in dealing with the perpetrators.
