POLOKANE – Potego Archibald Timothy Mootane is passionate about uplifting the less fortunate and now seeks to take this passion to an international level.

Timothy says the Mister Africa International pageant is a platform where he can reach out to young people and make a difference, worldwide. The pageant is to be hosted in Lagos, Nigeria on 7 December, and Potego appeals to the public to help him fulfil his dream of representing South Africa on an international level.

The 22-year-old model from Thakgalang in Nobody, is the founder of the Timothy Mootane Foundation (TMF) and derives his vision from Mahatma Gandhi’s famous words, ‘be the change you want to see..’.

Through TMF, Timothy seeks to uplift the lives of the local youth.  In 2017, the organisation hosted a Christmas lunch for orphans and children from disadvantaged homes as well as a woman empowerment day. “We have also visited local schools and donated sanitary towels, stationery and hosted motivational talks. In 2018, the organisation hosted a youth event that gave young people an opportunity to showcase their talents, and contributed in keeping them off the street,” he said.

Their latest project is the Mr and Miss Plus Size TMF 2020. “Our vision is to provide young models of all sizes, both male and female, a platform to showcase their talents and be the instruments of change in our communities,” he added.

In order for Timothy to make his dream of participating in the Mister Africa International pageant a reality, he needs money for the registration, attire and flights. Anybody who can assist can contact him at 0607770301 /082 381 4917 or email him on potegomootane1@gmail.com.
