[UPDATE] Man (50s) killed in horrific crash on N1 North bypass

POLOKWANE – One person was killed and another seriously injured in a collision which happened on the N1 North bypass earlier today.

In a statement, Ross Campbell, Spokesperson for ER24 says a man in his fifties died on the scene and another man, believed to be in his forties sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
He says paramedics arrived on the scene at 10:45 to a SUV on it’s roof and a light motor vehicle in the middle of the road. Both male drivers were entrapped and the driver of the LMV was declared dead on arrival. ER24 paramedics assisted by other service provider used the Jaws of Life to extract the other driver from the SUV. He had suffered serious injuries and was treated on the scene before he was transported to the hospital, Campbell concludes.
Part of the road has since been closed to allow for further investigation. Traffic is backed-up in the area and motorists are urged to use alternative routes if possible.
