#NoExcuse seeks to create ‘champions for change’
The #NoExcuse Movement urges South African men to take action against gender-based violence
POLOKWANE – #NoExcuse is a five-year initiative aimed at raising awareness, provoking action and providing tools for men to take positive action as a means of driving a change in behaviour and become “champions for change”..
Champions, with the increasing incidents of gender-based violence (GBV) & femicide in South Africa, let’s play an active role in ending the cycle of abuse. #16DaysofActivism should be a 365-day commitment – how are you using your strength to stand against GBV? #NoExcuse pic.twitter.com/2Rem3DKKdp

The movement refers to there being no excuse for men to abuse women and no excuse for men to stand by and do nothing when others abuse women.
#NoExcuse ambassador, Phumudzo Manedzhe said the programme is aimed at driving positive change among men in our community.
“We want to chase the demon which haunts us as a country and as a continent where people abuse our women and children. We want to put a stop to this and spread the message and say look, let us stop abusing our women and children and rather look after them. We need to stop this abuse,” said Manedzhe.
He said he is proud of being an ambassador because he is one of those who grew up in a home where he never saw his father lay his hands or raise his voice to his mother and that stuck with him.

“We want people to know that this is not just a campaign for 16 Days Of Activism. Start at your household, if you teach your kids to respect other kids outside, that is where you will see the change.
“We aim to see men help their wives with dishes and their kids with homework. We believe that positive action against gender-based violence should go beyond 16 days. Our intervention to foster a mindset of positive masculinity and end GBV is a 365 day commitment,” he said.
