Crocodile attack: remains of Limpopo fisherman recovered

The man was attacked while fishing in the Levubu River.

LIMPOPO – The remains of a 31-year-old man who attacked by a crocodile in the Levubu River near Thohyandou have been recovered, says the police.

It is alleged the deceased was fishing in the crocodile-infested river on Monday, 30 March at around 18:00 when we was attacked by the crocodile and dragged into the water. A group of fishermen witnessed the attack and alerted the police. A SAPS Search and Rescue Unit was dispatched and the search continued until the remains of the fisherman was discovered floating in the river on Wednesday, 1 April, said Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The deceased was identified as Nephawe Rabelani from Tswinga village outside Thohoyandou.

An inquest has been opened and investigations continue.
