Don a Brotailors mask and fight the Covid-19 pandemic in style
Amid the Covid-19-pandemic Brotailors Designs is doing their part in the fight against the spread of the virus by making soft leather face masks.
POLOKWANE – Since the first reported case, Turfloop native fashion designer, Success Mangena began making the masks and explained to BONUS that he uses soft leather which is a fusion of polycorton fabric that circulates air better and their fabric masks have three layers of cotton.
“We made these masks because other people may not have access to them and we sell them so that we are able to buy fabric as a SMME business. We want to raise money and help the community around us.”
Mangena can thank his mother for his tailoring skills, as she began teaching him in 2010. “My mother has taught me many things and I would watch her sew school uniforms. I didn’t like doing that though as I wanted a real challenge with complicated designs. I then began working on wedding gowns and suits.”
In the beginning, the aim was just to tailor bowties to make money to buy bus tags to school but something was stirring inside me. “My love for fashion was ignited and I continued making dresses, shirts, trousers and other designs.“I can proudly say that I am self-taught and my slogan is ‘Creativity Through Passion’,” he said.
The company offers designs for corporate outfits, school uniforms, graduation gowns, wedding dresses, suits and traditional outfits and has managed to employ four people. Celebs that have donned his creations include Lesley Musina, Kwesta, Rosetta Sebapu, Mopedi and many others.
