Covid-19 infections rise to 2028
Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize this evening announced that the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country has risen to 25, while the infection figure stands at 2028.
A 61-year old man from the Western Cape is the latest victim of the Coronavirus in the country. He had underlying conditions, namely diabetes, hypertension and obesity.
Mkhize said 75 053 tests have thus far been conducted.
The minister also noted that it was concerning that in KwaZulu-Natal, more than six persons died at the same hospital, and that the Health Department would look into why the number was so high.
He said at this point, the findings of certain research show that people who exhale while wearing a mask infected with the virus, assists exponentially in the spread of the virus.
“Our efforts to reduce large gatherings of people helps to reduce the spread, and the number of new infections is not increasing as initial projections showed,” he said
