Polokwane can expect rain as tropical storm “Eloise” moves across Limpopo

A yellow (Level 4) warning has since been issued for Polokwane. Find out more here.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) warned that while overland, weakening of the system is expected to take place.  However, extreme rainfall is still expected over parts of Limpopo over the weekend until Monday.

On Friday the service issued a warning for disruptive rains across the northern and eastern parts of the province. Although the city is expected to receive the remnants of the storm, heavy rains can still be expected and currently falls under the yellow (Level 4) warning.

The warning is effective from Sunday 12:00 to Monday 11:59 and SAWS has warned the public to stay indoors and off the roads during this time.
