Recovered stolen truck in Bela-Bela leads to arrest of four men

A manhunt has been launched for the remaining suspects

LIMPOPO – Police in the province have recovered a stolen truck worth over R900 000, after members of the Crime Prevention Unit received information about the existence of stolen groceries at a supermarket in Nirvana, Polokwane.

Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, in a statement, said four men, between the ages of 27 and 33, were arrested on Thursday, after they were found in possession of suspected stolen properties.

“A large amount of various grocery items, with an estimated value of over R100 000, were recovered from inside a truck trailer. Some of the items were already offloaded and found inside the shop,” he explained.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a truck, loaded with groceries, was hijacked in Delmas, Gauteng.

He explained that the groceries were allegedly delivered at the supermarket in Nirvana, and the truck was later recovered in the Bela-Bela policing area, without the trailer.

Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba thanked the members of the police for their swift actions.
