Limpopo police launch search for mom’s baby

The mom's ten-month-old baby was left in her boyfriends' care.

LIMPOPO – The police in Namakgale outside Phalaborwa have launched a search operation for a ten-month-old baby, Edsina Camela.

Edsina was reportedly last seen on 25 March, according to Police Spokesperson, Sergt Mienkie Ramakgoakgoa.

Ramakgoakgoa said in a statement that the baby’s mother left her children with her boyfriend, believed to be a Mozambican national.

“The mom left the baby with her boyfriend at their homestead in Namakgale at around 06:00, as she was going to work,” Ramakgoakgoa added.

She explained that when the mother returned home, that neither her boyfriend or her baby was there.  

“Some of her boyfriend’s clothes were also missing. A police search operation was conducted in surrounding areas, without success,” she said.

Ramakgoakgoa requested anyone with information, which can assist the police to locate the boyfriend and/or baby, to contact Det Lt Colonel Lilian Mahlathi at 082 469 1240, the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or their nearest police station.

Police investigations are still continuing, she concluded.
