Mogalakwena Traffic Dept temporarily suspends learner’s licence bookings

The municipality said the temporary suspension is meant to clear the current backlog.

MOKOPANE – The Mogalakwena Local Municipality has notified learner’s driver’s licence applicants that bookings at the Traffic Department and licensing station are temporarily suspended.

In a statement, the municipality noted that the service will resume on 1 June.

“Communication will be issued prior to the opening date. Due to Covid-19 regulations, the number of applicants in the class is reduced to 50% and this caused a backlog,” the municipality said.

The municipality added that the temporary closure of bookings is their way to curb the long waiting list of temporary driving licence collection, to allow for proper control.

“Kindly note that licence disks and driving licence cards renewals are not included and the Traffic Department encourages the public to use this time to update and renew their licences,” they concluded.
