#LufunoMavhunga assault case to resume in June
The 15-year-old girl will remain in the care of her parents, says the NPA.
LlMPOPO –The 15-year-old girl accused of the assault of Lufuno Mavhunga, reappeared in Thohoyandou Children’s Court today (Thursday, 27 May) and her case was postponed to June.
She faces a schedule two offence, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) and is currently out on R1 500 bail.
The National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) Regional Spokesperson, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi says the court today extended her bail to 29 June.
Her bail conditions state that she not interfere with any of the witnesses or does not travel outside of the borders of Limpopo without informing the investigating officer.
The accused is a child in conflict with the law and the case will be dealt with in accordance with the Child Justice Act Director of Public Prosecutions.
The accused was taken into custody on Wednesday, 14 April, two days after an apparent school-bullying incident at Mbilwi Secondary School learner in Sibasa Block A.

During the incident Mavhunga was featured in video footage that went viral on social media, in which a crowd of learners are cheering on a verbal attack, which later turned physical, on the late teenager. She thereafter took her own life.
Mavhunga was laid to rest in Tshirenzheni village on 17 April.
