Man’s body found dumped in Polokwane CBD

Preliminary police investigations revealed that the deceased may have been assaulted elsewhere and then dumped.

POLOKWANE – The police are investigating the murder of middle-aged man, whose body was found in the central business district earlier this week.

Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe said the police were notified about a man lying near the taxi rank along Buite Street on Monday evening. “The man was half-naked and had multiple injuries.”

Ngoepe said emergency services were summoned and he was certified dead by paramedics.

The deceased has not yet been identified and the police appeals to anyone who has a missing family member to visit the Polokwane Police Station to identify the deceased.

Ngoepe says the motive behind the incident is not clear yet, but investigations still continue. “The suspect(s) are still unknown and there has been no arrest(s).”
